Villa Issabella

Villa Issabella in Marbella isn’t trying to be a palace—it’s the kind of villa that knows exactly what it is: a comfortable, sun-drenched hangout where the outdoor area and pool quietly steal the show (those views?chef’s kiss).

We booked the Villa Issabella with extended family for four days, and it felt like a good balance for all; fun enough for the kids, laid-back enough for the grown-ups, and still respectful of peace—and your wallet.

The pool area was just perfect for our group. It’s huge, well positioned and deep enough for some cannonballs in by members of the party of all ages. The Villa’s outdoor facilities really make it feel like Marbella is your backyard, and of course, the weather was beautiful Spanish sunshine.

Villa Issabella is Versace themed throughout, and sleeps up to 15 people with 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms; all of decent size. We thoroughly enjoyed the games room with pool table, and a lounging, playful energy, as a place for the family to gather. However it did feel like the lavish interiors clashed a little with the chilled-out family-friendly vibes, but as a privateVilla that caters for livelier guests too, it seems fair enough.

The owner and staff were unfailing friendly, always delivering a warm hello with zero-fuss service and recommendations of places to visit that locals love. The Villa itself is just 5 minutes walks from Elviria Square (ideal for shops, tapas and a breeze that doesn’t quite make it to the pool) and the beach, so you can venture out as you’d like.

The kicker for us? The fitness facilities just didn’t deliver. The gym equipment was basic and in an uninspiring environment, which for us wasn’t a great fit.

This all said, Villa Issabella doesn’t pretend to be an ultra-lux residence, but is a safe bet if you're after good value, a killer location, and a fun family home base. This is Marbella for families: sunny, sociable, unpretentious, with enough charm to make you stay… and come back!
