The Six Senses Zil Pasyon is less than 10 years old and is a purpose-built holiday resort on the private island of Felicite in the Seychelles. We loved certain elements of our stay, and while it was a good break, it fell short in a few ways compared to similar places we’ve visited.

You can choose from a one- or two-bed villa, with private pool and we loved ours – the view over the glittering blue sea was spectacular and the accommodation clean and cosy.

The resort is very spread out, and this does mean that depending on where your villa is situated, you may be a fairly long way from the facilities. For us, it took an almost 25-minute very hilly walk to get the gym… which was, granted, great for our cardio, but perhaps not as ideal for those who are looking for real relaxation. The gym and spa (once we got there!) were world class, as you can expect from the Six Senses brand.

The food and drink throughout the resort were functional and perfectly acceptable, but for us, lacked the wow factor we’ve experienced elsewhere. There’s definitely some improvement to be had here to match up to the level expected.

As quite an adventurous ‘get things done’ couple, we were keen to take part in several activities and exploration around the island. The resort’s website calls Zil Pasyon ‘the ultimate playground for Seychelles adventures’ and lists out 11 experiences offered. However, we found this quite disappointing. Despite the resort being on a private island there was actually not much to do in way of activities on Felicite itself, and it’s a half an hour boat ride to get to anything else.

If you’re looking just to chill in your villa and enjoy the landscapes, the Six Senses Zil Pasyon is a great destination, but if you’re of a more adventurous spirit, it may fall short.

Marbella, Spain

Villa Issabella in Marbella isn’t trying to be a palace—it’s the kind of villa that knows exactly what it is: a comfortable, sun-drenched hangout where the outdoor area and pool quietly steal the show (those views? chef’s kiss).
