The Royal Mansour presents opulence from every angle – this place is pure decadent magnificence! Rather than standard hotel rooms, the Royal Mansour is comprised of 53 private riads – each a multi-level retreat with private courtyard, rooftop terrace, and some with plunge pools. This isn’t staying in a hotel as you know it, but rather a mini-palace.

The interiors reflect further on traditional Moroccan design, with deep jewel tones, intricate mosaics and lush, handcrafted local artistry. It’s truly a beautiful residence, but those with mobility issues may struggle as most of the riads span several floors and there is only step access available. You may wish to channel your inner climber or pack a little lighter than usual.

We found the customer service to be next level. Staff move through a tunnel network through the property so are rarely seen, but everything arrives on time with ghostly grace and is personal, polished and profoundly warm.

One of the stand-out features of the Royal Mansour is its spa. A temple sprawling some 2,500m², you’ll find inside a hammam, indoor pool, yoga and pilates classes, personal training and lavish treatment programs. This place is a full wellness retreat in its own right, and makes for a great immersion into traditional Moroccan rituals, takhlita wraps and Tibetan singing bowls. The gym is decent for the locale too, well-equipped for strength and light cardio.

As you may expect given the focus on relaxation and wellness, activities on-site are fairly low-key. However, the concierge are on hand to sort anything you may wish to try – from private guided Medina tours and hot air balloon breakfasts to desert camping and Moroccan cookery workshops. If pure hotel lounging isn’t your thing, you can head off-site to explore, and you’re paying for well curated exclusivity around such ventures.

Another highlight of the Royal Mansour was the dining. The only word we could find to describe it is ‘insane’, but in the best possible way! Four stand-out restaurants offering Moroccan haute cuisine, Italian,French and Asian-fusion can be found on-site alongside private dining options and refined bars. Cuisine here isn’t just food: it’s theatre. Each restaurant surpassed our expectations and took fine dining to a new level.

Marrakesh is buzzing and busy, but the Royal Mansour offers an oasis of gardens. Its lush gardens, hidden tunnels, serene layout and expert staff deliver pure Zen in a bustling city, somewhere we would definitely recommend.

Marbella, Spain

Villa Issabella in Marbella isn’t trying to be a palace—it’s the kind of villa that knows exactly what it is: a comfortable, sun-drenched hangout where the outdoor area and pool quietly steal the show (those views? chef’s kiss).
