Gleneagles

From my perspective, Gleneagles sets the standard for luxury hotels and experiences not just in Scotland but across the whole of the UK. It’s a national institution for us Scots, and is truly unbeaten anywhere else in the country.

The hotel has a rich 150-year history and this gives the whole place a really decadent feel. The rooms are gorgeous and incredibly decadent, with all of the modern amenities you’d expect without compromising  the building’s important heritage.

Dining is a delight at Gleneagles, with 10 bars and restaurants dotted across the site. Andrew Fairlie’s Michelin starred restaurant is a standout option offering a variety of locally sourced dishes but every restaurant is top notch. The beautiful American Bar is a highlight for me – it’s definitely one of the best cocktail bars that I’ve ever visited.

We like to adventure a little as well as maintain our fitness even when on holiday, and the gym at Gleneagles is well-equipped. The list of on-site activities is essentially endless… you can play tennis, padel, golf, croquet, go shooting and drive 4x4s! Throw in some traditional falconry and golf, fishing, gun dog training and croquet too.

Gleneagles is a great destination for families - they have three separate kids clubs: the Little Glen Creche, Little Glen Adventurers and The Den Children and Teenagers’ Activity Space. With supervised and unsupervised options as well as so many of the outdoor activities suitable for children, there’s a great deal to do.

The Gleneagles team are consistently brilliant every time we visit. This highland hideout represents the perfect blend of luxury and adventure.
